The City of Chattanooga's Office of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (OHSH) works to both prevent homelessness as well as rapidly house residents experiencing homelessness through services, community partnerships, a rapid re-housing program, as well as provide emergency services when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Rapid Re-Housing & Deposit Assistance: The rapid re-housing program connects Chattanooga residents experiencing homelessness with deposit assistance and services to help them obtain housing quickly.
  • Community Partnerships: Community partnerships with nonprofits and faith-based organizations are critical to comprehensively addressing homelessness in our community. OHSH works closely with a coalition of local partners, including the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition, the Chatt Foundation, the Chattanooga Housing Authority, and others to ensure residents at risk of homelessness and those experiencing homelessness get the support they need to get back on their feet.
  • Eviction Prevention: We provide rental assistance to people at risk of eviction. Below is our eligibility criteria:
     
    1. Must live within Chattanooga city limits
    2. The rent cannot be subsidised (this includes Public Housing, Section 8 vouchers, Project Based Vouchers, LIHTC etc.)
      Proof of rent being past due
    3. We are not able to assist once an eviction has been filed
      Household must provide proof of a documented, involuntary disruption to income or expenses
