On May 2, 2026, at approximately 9:40 PM, Chattanooga Police (CPD) responded to a possible hostage situation call in the 2200 block of E 27th Street Ct. The caller reported a suspect on the second floor of an apartment complex who was reportedly armed and claiming to hold a hostage.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 1:00 am in the 4600 block of Hwy 58.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a 27-year-old male with a gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures before EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Several people were displaced by an apartment fire in Hixson on Friday night. At 9:45 PM on 5/1/25, Green Shift companies were dispatched to the 500 block of Cranberry Way after 911 received multiple reports of flames coming from a second floor apartment. Chattanooga police officers were already on the scene and confirmed that there was an active fire. Officers acted fast to evacuate residents.

Tennessee American Water has reported a water main break to the Chattanooga Department of Public Works. The affected area is near the intersection of E 38th Street and Fagan Street.
This emergency repair will necessitate a road closure expected to last until Wednesday, May 6th.

77TH ANNUAL ARMED FORCES DAY PARADE
The 77th Annual Armed Forces Day Parade will take place Friday, May 1st, and begin on Market Street at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr
Blvd at 10:30 AM, traveling northbound toward Aquarium Way. The parade may be viewed from any public sidewalk within this corridor. The estimated length of the parade is 30 minutes.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- On April 29, 2026, at 2:20 p.m., Chattanooga Police officers responded to a Shots Fired call in the 100 block of River Street. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of gunfire. They were also informed that one person showed up at a hospital by personal vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
CPD Homicide and Crime Scene responded to process the scene and continue the investigation.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) arrested a man in connection to a homicide that occurred just after midnight on April 27, 2026.
CPD officers responded to a person shot call in the 1500 block of Hickory Valley Road. Upon arrival, police found the victim, a 27-year-old man, deceased in a hallway between apartment units.
CPD's Homicide Unit responded to the scene to conduct the investigation and subsequently identified the suspect as 21-year-old Randall Brady. While investigators interviewed Brady, he admitted to shooting the victim.
