Chattanooga Fire Department Formalizes Community Risk Reduction Division to Strengthen Public Safety Efforts.

CHATTANOOGA, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department is proud to announce the formal establishment of its Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Division, reinforcing the department’s long-standing commitment to proactive public safety and community engagement.

A lightning strike is believed to be the cause of an apartment fire in Hixson Sunday night. Red Shift companies were dispatched to the Marina Pointe Apartments (5750 Lake Resort Drive) at 7:22 PM on 5/24/26 after 911 received reports of smoke coming from the roof of one buildings in the complex. Residents and police officers worked to evacuate the building as CFD personnel began firefighting operations. A second alarm was called to bring additional resources to the scene.

The City of Chattanooga hereby gives notice of a proposed application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for a Section 108 Loan Guarantee in the amount of $7,800,250. Through an intergovernmental agreement with the City, wherein it will serve as a Dedicated Public Agency, the Chattanooga Housing Authority (CHA)will be the borrower of the loan directly through HUD. Required by federal regulations, The City will pledge current and future Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocations as backstop security for the guarantee.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The City of Chattanooga Department of Community Development invites the community to attend a day of music, food, fun, and community pride for the 50th Annual Shepherd Community Fun Day, Picnic & Car Parade on Saturday, June 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Shepherd Community Center, located at 2124 Shepherd Road.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn

The Chattanooga Police Department arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide of a 27-year-old that occurred on May 3, 2026 in the 4600 block of Highway 58.

CPD's Homicide Unit charged 19-year-old Nicalos Moore (DOB 09/18/2006) with First Degree Murder and two counts of Tampering with Evidence. Moore is in custody at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
