A bad wreck led to a rescue operation Wednesday night involving multiple agencies. At 7:18 PM on 10/2/24, Squad 7 and Battalion 2 Green Shift responded to Standifer Gap Road and Running Brook Lane. It appeared that the driver of a car lost control and hit an embankment, causing the car to flip. The vehicle kept rolling down a 100-foot hill and came to rest in a small creek bed where it caught fire. A passerby bravely went to pull two men out of the burning vehicle and Tri-Community VFD extinguished the fire.
Chattanooga firefighters got a fire under control fast Wednesday afternoon at a Brainerd Hills home. At 11:58 AM, Green Shift companies were called to Benham Drive, not far from East Brainerd Road, and found the left side of a duplex 50 percent engulfed in flames on the front, side and back of the structure. Initially there were reports that an occupant had gone back inside the burning home to locate pets so a second alarm was called. Firefighters started knocking down flames in the carport area where the flames were concentrated while others went inside to search the house.

Firefighters removed six goats and one dog from Maclellan Island on Monday afternoon. TVA is increasing the water flow on the Tennessee River to help with the impact of flooding north of us so there were concerns about the animals with rising water levels. The goats were placed on the island to help get rid of invasive underbrush. The animals were cooperative with the rescue operation conducted by Fireboat 10's Red Shift crew in conjunction with the Audubon Society. All of the goats and their guard dog were safely evacuated from the island for the time being.
Two families were displaced following a duplex fire Sunday morning. At 10:11 AM on 9/29/24, Blue Shift companies responded to the 1500 block of Bradt Street and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the structure. All occupants were out of the residence, including small children. A quick attack was made, knocking down the flames. With the fire under control, crews then checked for hotspots and moved into salvage and overhaul. There were no injuries.
