A two-alarm apartment fire in Downtown Chattanooga sent two people to the
hospital overnight. At 12:11 AM on 12/7/25, Red Shift companies responded
to 500 W Martin Luther King Boulevard after 911 received multiple alerts
from the high rise tower’s fire alarm system. Responding personnel found
that a fire in the trash chute had filled multiple floors with smoke. A
second alarm was called to bring additional crews to the scene to assist
with ventilation to remove smoke from several floors, as well as the

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.–  The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) is 

investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 9:50 pm on December
6, 2025, in the 1900 block of E 33rd Street.

Officers responded and located an adult male suffering from multiple
non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.  He was transported to a local
hospital for treatment by Hamilton County EMS.

 

The City of Chattanooga Department of Public Works announced today that the
school zone along E 3rd Street for Chattanooga School for the Arts and
Sciences (CSAS) will be officially extended eastward to Palmetto Street.
Installation of new signage began today (December 5th) with the extended
zone going into effect on Monday, December 8th.

Next week, pavement markings will be installed, contingent on suitable
weather. The flashing lights will be relocated to the new position once the
electrical connection is active.

Houston Street between E 10th Street and E 11th Street is closed until
further notice due to a partial building collapse. Emergency services and
city building engineers are on site to evaluate the building and any
potential infrastructure damage. All pedestrians and vehicles are asked to
avoid the area.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) is
investigating a shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of Windsor Street.

On November 24, 2025 at approximately 7:28 p.m., CPD officers responded to
reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim, a
26-year-old man, was at a local hospital with a non-life threatening
injury. Homicide detectives responded to the hospital and crime scene to
conduct an investigation.
