Two Boys Arrested For Gillespie Road Fire

After a week-long investigation, Captain Andrew Waters with the Fire Investigation Division charged two boys, ages 11 and 14, with arson and burglary. Captain Waters said that while the family was away, the two boys broke into the home, stole some personal items, vandalized and set the house on fire. Captain Waters said the fire caused significant damage before firefighters could get the blaze under control. No injuries were reported, but the fire displaced a mother and eight children.

After placing the charges this afternoon, Chattanooga police transported the youths to the Juvenile Detention Center for booking. Captain Anthony Moore and Lt. Henry McElvain assisted with the investigation.
