Join us for an interactive, hands-on storytelling program that will inspire kids to answer their dreams!  Jean L.S. Patrick, author of The Girl Who Struck Out Babe Ruth, will dramatize the story of 17-year-old pitcher Jackie Mitchell (including Jackie’s famous strikeouts!) and provide a behind-the-scenes look at her research and writing process.
Jean will bring a 95-year-old baseball glove and wear a replica of Jackie’s 1931 Chattanooga Lookouts baseball jersey. Time for questions will follow.
Jean L.S. Patrick is the author of several award-winning nonfiction books for children, including Long-armed Ludy and the First Women’s Olympics. She lives near Mitchell, South Dakota, with her veterinarian husband and more animals than she can count.
This program is presented in celebration of the exhibit, Home Runs & Home Teams: A History of the National Pastime in Tennessee, on view at the Downtown Library now through March 18.
