Our Mission

To champion transformative change in Chattanooga by fostering equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and justice through strategic education, outreach, and advocacy. We aim to build a community where everyone can feel welcomed, valued, respected, empowered, and engaged.

Equity & Community Engagement Divisions

The Equity & Community Engagement department for the City of Chattanooga is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable community. Our mission is to advance equity, inclusion, and social justice across all city operations and services, ensuring all residents have the opportunity to thrive. Our department is structured into four key divisions:

  • Neighborhood Services: We work to enhance the quality of life in all neighborhoods by ensuring equitable access to city services and resources

  • Supplier Diversity: We support inclusive economic growth by promoting opportunities for local businesses and ensuring diversity in city contracts

  • Office of New Americans: We provide resources and support to immigrants and refugees, fostering their integration and success within our community
