What Are The Requirements?
A City of Chattanooga Master Mechanical License is required to pull a mechanical permit. A Tennessee State Contractors License will be required when the Contract of Value of Work is at $25,000 or above.
A business license will be required when pulling a mechanical permit. We will request a City of Chattanooga business license when Contact of Work is above $100,000.
Any properly licensed contractor who desires to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert, or replace a mechanical system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause such work to be done, shall first make application to the code official and obtain the required permit for the work.
Exception: Where equipment and appliance replacements or repairs must be performed in an emergency situation, the permit application shall be submitted within the next working business day of the department or mechanical inspection.
