About Pam McConnell

Pam has been fascinated with family history since she was 8 years old. Her maternal grandfather was one of 13 children and keeping track of all the ‘cousins’ was nearly a full-time job. Her mother traced the family history when roadtrips and snail-mail letters were the only means of gaining information. Her mother passed the torch to Pam once computers and digitization began changing the face of research. Pam’s scientific background gave her the tools to approach genealogy from a unique problem-solving perspective. She has assisted hundreds of ladies in documenting their lineage.

She became a D.A.R. member in 1972 but has been most active since her retirement in 2005. She has served as TN State Chair of Volunteer Genealogists during two administrations. She currently serves as Registrar and Honorary Chapter Regent of Nancy Ward Chapter here in Chattanooga. She has taken Genealogical Education Program Courses I, II, and III from D.A.R. and serves on the TN State Application Team.

Pam is a transplanted Virginian who has called Tennessee home for nearly 50 years and now calls Florida an alternate home. She and her husband of %fty-three years met at Virginia Tech where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. They married after graduation, he accepted a commission in the US Army, and they lived in Georgia, Texas and Germany over the course of his service. Pam taught Chemistry and Physics in both public and private
sectors. She and her husband have two sons and one daughter and 10 grandchildren.
