Program Overview
This program helps landlords who qualify by reimbursement of costs to cover maintenance and minor repairs on vacant units. This will make it easier for Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) individuals or households to move in quickly. The program is funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), with additional funding provided under the CARES Act totaling $400,000. Landlords can receive a maximum grant award of $4,900 per unit.

- Increase inventory of affordable housing
- Through reimbursement, provide an incentive for landlords to improve vacated rental properties and get them back online
- Provide low- and moderate-income individuals and households with affordable rental units
Specifications
Maximum funding: $4,900 per unit.
Eligible expenses include maintenance-type improvements (no rehabilitation).
The landlord must rent the unit to an individual or household with an income at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
The landlord must agree to HUD-established maximum rents.
Period of affordability: 2 years.
The property must be vacant at the time of application and during the repair process.
