Potential Flooding in Chattanooga Area Due to Severe Weather Forecast

Jump to:

Chattanooga, TN – February 5, 2025 – The City of Chattanooga is urging
residents to be prepared for potential flooding following the latest
weather forecast, which predicts heavy rain and the possibility of severe
storms over the next several days. While the risk of widespread flooding
remains low, localized flooding may occur in areas that are more
susceptible due to rainfall and storm conditions.

City Wide Services is taking proactive measures to reduce the risk of
flooding by deploying crews across the city to clean catch basins, drains,
curb inlets, and other identified hotspots. These preventative efforts are
aimed at ensuring proper drainage and minimizing the impact of heavy rain.

In addition, crews, equipment, and traffic devices are on standby
throughout the week to assist with road closures in the event of downed
trees or flooded roadways. Public safety remains a top priority, and the
city is committed to responding quickly to any emergencies that arise.

Residents are reminded to stay alert to weather updates and avoid traveling
on flooded roads. For non-emergency issues or to report drainage concerns,
please contact 311.
