About
The City is taking the following steps to repair what initially appeared to be a sinkhole on Heritage Landing Drive. It was later determined to be a collapsed storm drain beneath the road:
- Installing New Piping: We are using a "trench-less" boring method to install a high-capacity 42-inch pipe toward the river without disturbing the entire surface.
- System Upgrade: We are connecting the neighborhood's current drainage into this new, stronger system and closing off the old, damaged pipe.
- Road Restoration: Once the new pipes and manholes are in place, we will fill the collapsed area with stable material and repair the damage to the road.

The Heritage Landing Drive Culvert Repair Project is currently In Progress. Contractors are actively working to repair the damage and the City estimates that the project will be complete by April 15, 2026.
Project Update
March 11, 2026
Following an on-site inspection yesterday, our team met to finalize the roadway restoration and verify the progress of the base layers. We are pleased to report that all underground work is complete: all piping systems have been tied in or retired as planned, and the entire area has been backfilled. The focus has now shifted to preparing the surface for final restoration.
We expect to begin paving within the next two weeks, weather permitting. Please note that the road will not open immediately after the asphalt is laid. Before the project is officially finished, we must complete roadway striping and a final "post-job walk" to ensure the highest quality product is returned to the public. Once complete, traffic patterns will resume as they were prior to the fix.
While we are moving quickly, April 15th remains the official date for all external inquiries to account for any potential weather delays. We appreciate your continued patience.
Previous Updates - March 2, 2026
Following a minor weather-related setback last week, we are back on track with our infrastructure project. Recent heavy rains washed stone debris into the newly installed pipe, requiring contractors to manually clear the line. Protective measures have since been implemented at the pipe openings to prevent further debris entry during future rain events.
With the new system now clear, we are finishing the final connections to our existing lines and will begin the abandonment process for the old pipe this week. Once that phase is concluded, we will move immediately into site stabilization and backfilling. Weather permitting, we anticipate beginning paving operations within the next two weeks.
Project Budget
Budget: $1,169,900
Contingency: $121,000
The budget reflect the complexity and future-proofing our infrastructure based on the three distinct aspects of the project: upgrading the drainage system, stabilizing and filling in the collapsed area, and repairing the road. The expect project budget is $1,169,900 with a contingency of $121,000 in case other issues or complications arise as work progresses.
