Beginning October 1, 2025 the City of Chattanooga launched a glass recycling pilot program aimed at reducing landfill waste and promoting responsible recycling. This pilot program was renewed for an additional year beginning July 1, 2026.
Glass, 90% of which ends up in landfills, is fully recyclable and locally reusable in construction, stormwater management, tile production, and more.
How to participate
In partnership with Overlooked Materials, the city offers curbside glass collection to residents in select areas.
Participants in the program will receive specific instructions and dedicated containers for their glass waste upon enrollment. This effort highlights how local solutions and partnerships can have a powerful, positive impact on our community, our economy, and our environment.
Neighborhood Curbside Pilots
The curbside pilot programs will initially serve residents in the following neighborhoods:

- Zone 3 - [Within Brainerd Hills Neighborhood Area]
- Zone 4 - [Within Missionary Ridge Neighborhood Area]
