In partnership with NewTerra Compost, the City offers free composting at NewTerra’s convenient kiosk locations, including our five recycling centers.
This program is designed to address food waste, one of the biggest contributors to landfill contents. Food waste accounts for 24% of all landfill matter and is the third largest source of methane emissions nationwide.
How to participate
Participation in this program is voluntary and requires registration directly through NewTerra's website. This program is strictly limited to residential use; businesses are not eligible to participate. These kiosks are exclusively for residents enrolled in the NewTerra program; general city recycling bins do not accept food scraps.
