About Biosolids Program
The City of Chattanooga's Biosolids Program is monitored by the Environmental Protection Agency, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, and the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Bureau.
There are currently over 250 farms throughout 14 Tennessee Counties participating in the program consisting of over 27,250 permitted acres.
The City has contracted with Elite Enterprises, LLC for the transportation and land application of their beneficial reuse product, which has been certified by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture as a commercial fertilizer.
