Chattanooga, Tennessee (January 15, 2025 ) - We announce with heavy hearts
that Glenwood Community Center Manager, community elder, and leader Jerome
Martin died on Sunday morning.
Martin worked for the Community Development Department, serving Chattanooga
for over 30 years. At the beginning of his career with the city, he spent
19 years at Shepherd Community Center and six years at North Chattanooga
Community Center, creating youth programming and activities. After several
years of focusing on the youth, Martin was promoted to Manager at Eastgate
Senior Center. Leading up to his passing, Martin was a facilitator and
advocate for senior programming in the community. Outside of working for
the city, Martin was an elder at The Holy Temple Church of God in Christ
and served on numerous boards within the church. His impact on our
community and the many lives he influenced will never be forgotten.
We request that the community respect the family's privacy at this time. A
celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
