City of Chattanooga’s Lynnbrook Park Wins Prestigious ACEC Grand Award for Stormwater Innovation

Jump to:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.(December 5th, 2025) — In partnership with Stantec, the
City of Chattanooga transformed a flood-prone area into a dual-purpose
asset: a functional stormwater solution and a vibrant community space. The
project focused on restoring a natural stream channel within the public
park. The City of Chattanooga Stormwater Division is proud to announce that
the Lynnbrook Park and Stream Restoration project has been honored with the
Grand Award in the ‘Stormwater and Wastewater: Large Project’ category by
the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).

Using advanced green infrastructure techniques, stormwater flowing into the
park is now slowed, naturally cleaned, and released into the primary stream
channel. This innovative design significantly reduces flooding in the
surrounding neighborhood while improving water quality.

Beyond its engineering utility, Lynnbrook Park has become a cornerstone for
the Oak Grove community. The restoration project successfully integrated
recreational amenities into the naturalized stream environment, including
new playgrounds and open gathering areas, a pavilion and grilling station,
and a walking path and pedestrian bridge connecting the park.

To celebrate this national recognition of engineering excellence and
community revitalization, the Stormwater Division will host a ceremony on
Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Members of the media are invited to join the City of Chattanooga and
project partners as they formally accept the award. The event will feature
remarks from key stakeholders regarding the development of the park and the
impact of this award-winning infrastructure.
