CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (June 4, 2026) — Chattanooga leaders will mark the completion of a major wastewater infrastructure project designed to reduce flooding along Hamill Road, strengthen the city’s sewer system, and protect public health and the environment.
Chief Operating Officer Mande Green will join City staff, project partners, and community stakeholders for a ribbon-cutting ceremony recognizing the completion of the Kanasita Equalization Basin and Pump Station Project.

WHAT: A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Kanasita Equalization Basin and Pump Station Project, a new 5-million-gallon wet weather equalization basin and pump station constructed on Kanasita Drive and Adams Road, respectively.
The approximately $45 million facility was built to capture and store excess wastewater during heavy rain events, helping reduce downstream flooding along Hamill Road while decreasing the risk of sewer overflows. The project represents a significant investment in Chattanooga’s infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and long-term resilience. The facility became operational earlier this year, with final project work now complete.
