EMERGENCY CLOSURES
King Street at E ML King Blvd
A water main break at the corner of King Street and E ML King Blvd will require the following restrictions until further notice:
King Street will be closed between E 10th Street and E MLK Blvd.
The eastbound lane of E ML King Blvd will shift into the center turn lane.
Tennessee American Water crews are attempting to shut off the water and start the repair process. Repairs may require additional closures which will be shared at that time.
Broad Street and 12th Street
A water main break in the intersection at Broad Street and 12th Street required the closure of Broad Street northbound between W 13th Street and W 12th Street. All northbound traffic will detour via W 13th to Market Street. Tennessee American Water crews stopped the leak and repairs are underway.
*Woodhill Drive / Shady Circle / Hixson Pike *
A water main break on Woodhill Drive is causing volumes of water to travel down Shady Circle and into all lanes of Hixson Pike. Chattanooga Public Works crews salted Hixson Pike and Shady Circle to prevent the water from freezing. Our crews will be monitoring the area to prevent any freezing overnight. Woodhill Circle is closed to through traffic at 1320 Woodhill Drive while repairs are being made by Tennessee American Water crews. Drivers are asked to use caution on Hixson Pike and Shady Circle until the water leak can be contained. No closures of Hixson Pike or Shady Circle are expected.
502-846 Barton Ave
Multiple water leaks have been detected on Barton Ave northbound between McFarland Ave and Hixson Pike. These small leaks are known to Tennessee American Water and City of Chattanooga Public Works crews. These are suspected to be service lines and not main pipes. Some water will freeze overnight, however Public Works will salt these areas as required. Tennessee American Water will address these leaks shortly, which may require northbound Barton Ave to be shifted into the center turn lane. This work will take place within the coming days/week. Please use caution in this area.
To report water leaks both in and outside the city right of way, contact Tennessee American Water 24/7 at 1-866-736-6420.
