IRONMAN TRAFFIC IMPACT

September 23, 2025 – Chattanooga, TN — The Chattanooga Division of
Transportation welcomes IRONMAN this upcoming weekend.  We recommend that
spectators and visitors park in the lots and garages surrounding downtown
and utilize the Free Electric Shuttle and the Bike Chattanooga bike share
system.

Public activities start Saturday morning with the IRONKID's race at 9:00 AM
on Riverfront Parkway. The IRONMAN Expo area will be open on the
Chattanooga Green on Thursday from Noon - 5:00 PM; Friday from 9:00 AM-5:00
PM; Saturday from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

The Tennessee River will be closed to pleasure crafts between Ross's
Landing and the Chickamauga Dam from 5:00 AM until 10:30 AM on Sunday,
September 28th.  This includes the Rivermont Park and the Tennessee
Riverpark boat ramps.

IRONMAN starts early Sunday morning, September 28th, with the swim portion
at 7:30 AM, and athletes will be transitioning to the bike race from about
8:10 AM until 1:00 PM.  Traffic will be stopped from crossing the cyclists'
lane when they are present between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Riverfront
Parkway and Martin Luther King Blvd (westbound only). Runners will be on
the Riverwalk, Amnicola Highway, the Veterans Bridge (northbound and
southbound), Barton Avenue, Hixson Pike, and Riverside Drive between 12:25
PM and 12:40 AM.

Spectators are encouraged to make the most of this unprecedented

IRONMAN VILLAGE CLOSURES:

Riverside Drive/Riverfront Parkway between Aquarium Way and Molly Street,
Chestnut Street between Aquarium Way and Riverfront Parkway, Power Alley
from the parking lot to Riverfront Parkway, and the southbound Veterans
Bridge ramp to Riverside Drive will be closed from 9:00 AM on Wednesday,
September 24th, until 8:00 PM on Monday, September 29th for the IRONMAN
setup, race, and take-down.

RACE DAY CYCLE COURSE CLOSURES:

The eastbound lanes of Riverfront Parkway between Martin Luther King Jr
Blvd and Molly Lane, and Martin Luther King Jr Blvd westbound between HWY
27 and Riverfront Parkway will be closed for the duration of the cycling
segment.  All businesses and hotels beyond the MLK Blvd intersection can be
accessed via Blue Goose Hollow, Canal Street, and Molly Lane. Access to
Blue Cross Blue Shield, First Baptist Church, and Gateway Blvd will be
limited for the duration.  Please follow all directions from uniformed
personnel.  The bike course will no longer travel south into Georgia but
will utilize HWY 27 as mentioned in the closure notice below.

RACE DAY HWY 27 CLOSURE DETAILS:

The IRONMAN bike course has shifted away from the southside and into
Georgia, instead utilizing HWY 27 into portions of Red Bank, Hamilton
County, and Soddy Daisy.  Below are the major impact areas for HWY 27 and
the surrounding areas, new since 2024, which will take place Sunday,
September 28th, from 5 AM until 6 PM (estimated)

·         US 27 southbound between HWY 153 and 4th Street (completely
closed, all southbound traffic will be redirected onto HWY 153)

·         The following on-ramps to US 27 southbound will be closed: HWY
153, Mountain Creek Road, Morrison Springs Rd, Signal Mountain Blvd,
Manufacturers Blvd, 4th Street exit access road from US 27 SB

·         Northbound left lane of US 27 from HWY 153 to Soddy Daisy

·         Southbound left lane of US 27 from Soddy Daisy until full closure
at HWY 153

RACE DAY RUNNING COURSE CLOSURES*:

*Changes to the running course for 2025: Frazier Ave will no longer see
lane closures, the running course has shifted away from Frazier Ave and the
Walnut Street Bridge to now use the dedicated multi-use path over Veterans
Bridge.

The right northbound lane of Barton Avenue between Frazier Avenue and Baker
Street, the right northbound lane of the Veterans Bridge between East 3rd
Street and Barton Avenue, the right westbound lane of Amnicola Highway
between Old Curtain Pole Road and Lindsay Street, Riverside Drive between
Lindsay Street and Molly Lane, the Battery Place off-ramp from Riverside
Drive, Aquarium Way between Riverside Drive and Walnut Street will be
closed and all streets crossing this route will be controlled by CPD
officers to give right-of-way to the runners from 12:25 PM on Sunday,
September 28th until 1:00 am on Monday, September 29th for the IRONMAN run
portion.
