Chattanooga, Tennessee –October 30th – The Land Development Office (LDO) of
Public Works announced today that it will dedicate its entire inspection
team to a targeted, systematic inspection initiative, often referred to as
a "blitz," in District 1.
These comprehensive inspections are tentatively scheduled for November 3
and 4. During this two-day period, the entire inspection team will look at
as many addresses as possible within the district. The overarching
objective of this operation is to improve neighborhood safety and
livability across the community.
The codes enforced by LDO Code Enforcement represent minimum standards
designed to protect the health, safety, and welfare of residents.
Inspectors will be issuing Notices of Violation for several key areas,
including:
- Litter
- Overgrowth
- Inoperable vehicles on private property
- Structure violations
For addresses found to have code violations, property owners will find a
Notice of Violation tag placed on their property.  Residents will then have
two weeks to correct the specific violation.
“Maintaining code compliance is a vital element in preserving the strength
and value of our neighborhoods,” stated Donna Casteel, Code Enforcement
Manager. “Compliance with these minimum standards offers significant
community benefits. It can help reduce vandalism, deter crime, maintain
property values, and prevent the deterioration of neighborhoods over time”.
The LDO encourages all District 1 residents to review their properties
prior to November 3 to ensure full compliance.
