The RainSmart RainBarrel program aims to encourage homeowners to install rain barrels to capture and reuse rainwater. This helps reduce runoff and lessen erosion, promoting better stormwater management and water quality. Install an approved RainSmart rain barrel and receive a reimbursement of $50 per barrel, up to 10 barrels per property.

Am I eligible?
- Must be a Chattanooga resident and/or property where rain barrel is installed must be within Chattanooga city limits
- Must be up to date on your stormwater fee and property taxes (check here)
Purchase Options: Program participants have the option of sourcing their own rain barrels OR purchasing through the City’s Annual Rain Barrel Distribution day.

City and non-city residents can purchase up to ten 50-gallon rain barrels per household through the City of Chattanooga’s Rain Barrel Distribution Day. Click here to purchase your rain barrel(s).
How does it work?
- Purchase & install rain barrel(s) to program specifications
- Sign & submit a rain barrel rebate form, photos of your installed barrel(s), and purchase receipt to stormwater@chattanooga.gov within 6 months of purchasing
