Car Plunges Into Creek Bed in Standifer Gap Rd Crash

Jump to:

A bad wreck led to a rescue operation Wednesday night involving multiple agencies. At 7:18 PM on 10/2/24, Squad 7 and Battalion 2 Green Shift responded to Standifer Gap Road and Running Brook Lane. It appeared that the driver of a car lost control and hit an embankment, causing the car to flip. The vehicle kept rolling down a 100-foot hill and came to rest in a small creek bed where it caught fire. A passerby bravely went to pull two men out of the burning vehicle and Tri-Community VFD extinguished the fire. Together, Chattanooga Fire and Tri-Community set up a rope system to get the two patients up the ravine in Stokes Baskets. They were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. The sheriff’s office and Hamilton County EMS were also on the scene.
