CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The City of Chattanooga Public Works Department is
alerting residents to an increase in flyers being distributed by a private
company regarding potential code violations. These flyers, which may
encourage homeowners to sell their property or hire the company for
repairs, are not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of Chattanooga.
The flyers, which have been reported in various neighborhoods, are not from
the City's Land Development Office or any other city department. The City
of Chattanooga does not send private companies to solicit business from
residents based on code violations.
“We want to clarify to our residents that the City of Chattanooga and its
employees are not involved with these solicitations," said William Gore,
Director of the Land Development Office. "Any official communication about
code violations would be sent directly from the city on official
letterhead, or an inspector would contact you directly, and their identity
can be verified through the city."
Residents who receive these flyers should know that the distributing
company has no relationship with the city and has no access to official
city data regarding code compliance.
