CHATTANOOGA, TN. — The Chattanooga Fire Department is working a two-alarm fire in East Brainerd that’s impacted several homes. This has been an all-hands-on-deck response with crews working through the overnight hours.

At 1:23 AM on 5/11/26, Green Shift companies were dispatched to the 1700 block of Andover Place on reports of a possible residential structure fire. Responding units could see flames from Jenkins and Shallowford. Once on the scene, they found a house fully involved with flames through the roof. Homes on either side of the residence were also starting to catch fire due to the extreme amount of heat.
Fire officials quickly learned that the occupants had safely evacuated all of the homes in question. They immediately began establishing a water supply and protecting the two exposures on either side of the house that was burning.
As they started knocking down the fire on the house that was ablaze, the home to right of it caught fire. Firefighters worked quickly to contain it to the attic space above the garage. Aerial master streams were used to extinguish the bulk of the blaze and fire companies will remain on scene for hours monitoring and targeting remaining hot spots.
This is exhausting work for our department and we have many resources on the scene. The cause of the fire will be under investigation. There are no injuries to report. The original structure is a total loss. The houses on either side sustained some damage, but our firefighters successfully saved neighbors’ homes from being destroyed.
