YOU'RE INVITED!! The Chattanooga Fire Fighters Association (union) wants to
make you a firefighter for a day and take you behind-the-scenes of the
Chattanooga Fire Department. It's always great to have our media partners
be a part in Fire Ops 101. Anyone in your newsroom is welcome. Details on
registering are below!
The Chattanooga Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 820 and the
Chattanooga Fire Department will be holding the annual Fire Ops 101 class
on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at the Fire and Police Training Center. Fire
Ops 101 is a one-day event that highlights some the key aspects of our
profession.
This course will give people a realistic glimpse into the fire service, and
they will have an opportunity to test their own skills. You will have the
opportunity to meet a number of the firefighters serving the City of
Chattanooga and participate in multiple training evolutions including:
- CFD firefighter ability test
- CPR
- Fire Extinguishers
- Fire Suppression/Search
- Urban Search and Rescue rope training
- Vehicle Extrication
We are hosting this class to better educate our elected officials and local
media on the rigors of our job. This class will be detailed and customized
for attendees. Because of this, we ask you to please respond back to us by
April 15th, 2025 so that we can prepare accordingly. It should be an
exciting and informative day for all.
This Fire OPS 101 will be an important event this year. This will be the
first Fire Ops 101 in the new Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton
County Emergency Services Training tower.
Fire OPS 101 will start at 7:00am until 1:00pm at 3200 Amnicola Hwy
Chattanooga, TN. Light breakfast, beverages and lunch will be
served. Parking will be available in the front of the building and on the
street if necessary. Lunch will be served at Noon.
