Golden Place apartment fire displaces several families

CHATTANOOGA, TN — Chattanooga firefighters tackled an apartment fire Friday afternoon off Morrison Springs Road. At 1:07 PM on 5/8/26, Red Shift companies were dispatched to the 700 block of Golden Place in the Views at Signal Mountain complex.

Once on scene, firefighters learned that no occupants were inside the building. Everyone had safely evacuated the structure. They found smoke coming from the building and when they made entry into one of the units, they found flames coming from the electrical outlets in the kitchen. Crews extinguished fire in the walls and then thoroughly checked for any extension. A cat was rescued from one of the apartments by firefighters and the pet received oxygen from HCEMS personnel. Fire companies remained at the complex working for more than two hours, targeting remaining hot spots. There were no other injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Engine 17, Engine 16, Engine 22, Squad 19, Ladder 19, Engine 12, Squad 1, Ladder 1, Battalion 2, Battalion 3 and CFD Investigations responded, along with HCEMS and CPD. Residents in four apartments were displaced due to fire, smoke, and/or water damage.
