K9 Diesel - End of Watch

Jump to:

Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department will escort K9 Diesel
to the Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain where he will be humanely
euthanized. K9 Diesel suffered significant injuries sustained in the line
of duty on September 15, 2025.

Thanks to the immediate care of a Tactical Paramedic with K9 training, he
was stabilized and transported to the Veterinary Care and Specialty Group
for emergency surgery. Despite these efforts, his injuries would leave him
with a severely diminished quality of life. After careful consideration and
multiple consultations with veterinary teams, the difficult decision was
made to humanely euthanize him.

K9 Diesel was three years old and faithfully served the Chattanooga Police
Department since April 2024. He was a trusted partner, a valued member of
the K9 Unit, and played a significant role in the department’s service to
our community.

Out of respect for K9 Diesel, his handler, and the department, the
euthanasia process will be private.
