Resident displaced by W Brow Terrace blaze

Jump to:

Our Red Shift firefighters continue to have a very demanding 24-hour shift.
Just after midnight on 1/26/26, companies responded to a reported
residential structure fire on W Brow Terrace off of Brainerd Road. On the
scene, units confirmed that heavy smoke and fire were coming out of the
roof. They launched an interior attack and search as it was unclear if the
occupant had made it out safely. Once fire officials learned that the
resident had escaped the burning home, firefighters were removed from the
structure due to dangerous conditions and a defensive attack was initiated.
Crews later re-entered the structure and limited the majority of damage to
the second floor. Officials on the scene indicated that a faulty heating
unit may be to blame for blaze. One person was displaced.

Advisory for pedestrians: Please avoid the Brainerd Road area close to the
tunnels. There’s a large runoff of water from firefighting operations that
is currently freezing. Public Works will be bringing a salt truck out soon,
but it could be a few hours.

Engine 15, Squad 13, Engine 5, Ladder 5, Engine 9, Engine 4, Ladder 1,
Squad 1, Engine 1, Engine 10, Battalion 1, Battalion 2 and Battalion 3
responded.
