Chattanooga Fire and Chattanooga Police are searching for a missing person
on East Brainerd Road who ran into floodwaters. On Tuesday night on
8/12/25, the 7600 block of East Brainerd Road was blocked off due to
flooding. Yellow tape was across the road and firefighters were trying to
keep multiple individuals from going around barricades for their safety.
One man took off running and mistakenly ran right into a flooded creek.
Firefighters immediately notified incident commanders and 911. When the man
did not reappear, a search was launched. It was called off hours later and
resumed Wednesday morning. Search capabilities have been limited due to
continuously rising floodwaters in the creek and heavy debris in the creek
and along the edges. CPD’s drone is assisting in the search, along with
CFD’s Special Operations Division and other fire officials.
