Sparks cause downtown fire at commercial site

Chattanooga firefighters worked a fire downtown Monday afternoon that prompted several calls to 911. At 4:24 PM on 3/23/26, Blue Shift companies responded to the 1900 block of S Greenwood Avenue after dispatch received reports of heavy smoke in the area. 

Firefighters found a conex container with items inside on fire. The surrounding grass and some plumbing equipment at this location were also burning. Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the fire, which was caused by sparks from work being performed on site. That set off nearby materials. There were no injuries. Ladder 1, Engine 1, Squad 1, Ladder 5, Engine 5, Engine 14, Engine 4, Battalion 1, and Battalion 2 responded.
