Watts Avenue house fire leaves pet with burns

Jump to:

A swift, coordinated response to a house fire Thursday afternoon prevented
flames from spreading throughout a Chattanooga residence. Just after 11 AM
on 10/23/25, Blue Shift companies responded to the 600 block of Watts
Avenue near the airport. Squad 13 spotted a column of smoke from Brainerd
Road as they were headed to the scene. When they pulled up, they saw heavy
fire coming from porch on the side of the home and dark smoke coming from
the eaves and attic. Squad 13 initiated fire attack while Ladder 13 did a
primary search through the front door. Engine 21 established a water supply
and assisted with  fire attack. Engine 8, Engine 15 and Engine 6 assisted
with firefighting operations as crews rotated. Firefighters had the fire
under control quickly and then targeted remaining pockets of fire. No one
was home at the time the fire started. One dog was severely injured. The
cause of the fire is under investigation. CPD, HCEMS, McKamey, CFD Supply
and CFD investigators were also on the scene.
