CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (March 4, 2026) – The City of Chattanooga’s Purchasing team is launching a “Help Our City Buy Local” campaign, widening the path for small business owners to work on city projects.

Chattanooga business owners are invited to join the city from 9 a.m.-12 p.m, Thursday, March 26 at Washington Hills Community Center for the Supplier Expo. This free event will feature representatives from city departments, business support organizations, and other local government agencies across our region.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (February 13, 2026) – Mayor Tim Kelly has selected Brian Smith as interim administrator of the Department of Parks & Outdoors.

Smith currently serves as the communications director and interim deputy administrator and has worked for the city for the past three years.

He replaces April Furth, who will depart as administrator on February 20. Furth accepted the position of Deputy County Manager of Clark County, Washington.

fly half-staff across city buildings, grounds and facilities on Friday,
January 23, in honor of Tommie Brown.

Brown served Chattanooga in the Tennessee House of Representatives for 20
years. She passed away earlier this week.

advance roadway safety

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (January 8, 2026) – The City of Chattanooga and the
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Research Institute (UTCRI) have been
awarded $1,063,393 in federal funding through the U.S. Department of
Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to support a
new Roadway Safety Design Technology Platform.
