Mayor Kelly re-issues Executive Order for beer permit grace period, proposes permanent ordinance change

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 7, 2026) – Mayor Tim Kelly has extended an Executive Order that provides a 90-day grace period for expired beer permits to be renewed, as the administration prepares a permanent ordinance change to streamline renewals and protect dozens of small businesses across the city from unintended lapses in their ability to serve customers.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 20, 2026) – The City of Chattanooga is launching a new Down Payment Assistance Program, and with a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA), first-time homebuyers can access up to $21,000.

Funds are available to households earning up to 120% of area median income, approximately $92,000 for a two-person household and $114,000 for a family of four.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (March 20, 2026) – A one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs and local businesses to access tools, expertise and funding has opened at 332 East Martin Luther King Blvd.

The City of Chattanooga’s Small Business Resource Center is a key initiative of the Kelly administration, funded with $1.8 million approved by City Council and provided through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
