The Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations
Center can confirm three fatalities following the severe weather that hit
Chattanooga and Hamilton County Tuesday night. Saturated ground caused a
large tree to fall on a car in the 1100 block of South Moore Road in East

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.  – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) quickly located and arrested 64-year-old Guster Harfield in connection with the August 8, 2025 homicide in the 7700 block of Lee Highway.

On August 8, 2025, at 9:10 p.m., CPD officers responded to a report of a
person shot in a motel parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found the
victim, a 43-year-old man, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Third Suspect Charged in Read Avenue Homicide

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.  –The Chattanooga Police Department has taken the
third and final suspect into custody in connection with the July 20, 2025
homicide of a 15-year-old male.

Eighteen-year-old Eric Collier turned himself in last night and is now in
custody at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center. The homicide
occurred in the 1700 block of Read Avenue.

 A class of 32 cadets made it through our six-month fire academy to become
 the newest members of the Chattanooga Fire Department! They successfully
 completed Emergency Medical Technician training and learned about all of
 the different aspects of the fire service from other highly skilled,

On Friday, August 8th and Saturday, August 9th the following closures and
restrictions will be in place from 5 PM until 11 PM:

  • Chestnut Street in front of Finley Stadium will be closed
  • Reggie White Blvd in front of Finley Stadium will be closed
  • W 19th Street in front of Finley Stadium will be closed
  • The westbound right lane of W 20th Street between Chestnut Street and Main
    Street will be closed.

Multiple Chattanooga Fire companies are on the scene of a commercial fire
at Buzzi Unicem USA’s Signal Mountain Plant. At 2:26 PM on 8/4/25, Green
Shift personnel were dispatched to the cement plant at 1201 Suck Creek Road
on reports of a commercial fire. Multiple 911 callers reported seeing smoke
in the area and heavy smoke was visible as firefighters were enroute to the
