flooding that recently impacted numerous neighborhoods across the city,
Councilman Dennis Clark is launching a Flood Relief Donation Drive to
support affected families and seniors in District 5. The drive will take

CHATTANOOGA, TN (August 15, 2025) - Today, Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly’s
office published the finalized version of its proposed property tax rate
and supplemental budget, which asks the City Council to adopt a property
tax rate of $1.93 per $100 of assessed property value.

Cherokee Boulevard: Market Street to Stringers Ridge Tunnel

The speed limit on Cherokee Boulevard, specifically the segment between
Market Street and the Stringers Ridge Tunnel, has been permanently reduced
to 35 MPH, effective immediately. This reduction was necessitated by
alterations in traffic patterns subsequent to the recent resurfacing of the
roadway.

Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments recovered the body of a man
who entered a fast-moving, flooded creek in the 7600 block of East Brainerd
Road late Tuesday night.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – August 14, 2025 – The emergency shelter at the Chris
L. Ramsey Sr. Community Center has officially closed as of today, with all
27 evacuees successfully relocated to more stable housing environments. The
American Red Cross provided critical assistance to all individuals.

Chattanooga firefighters worked a hazmat call at a local business Thursday
morning. At 8:43 AM on 8/14/25, Blue Shift companies were dispatched to
1801 Southern Street at an automotive paint facility for a small hazardous
material spill involving nitric acid. The building was evacuated as a
precaution. CFD Hazmat and Special Operations responded and mitigated the
incident after a small chemical reaction. There were no injuries. Hazmat 1,

The American Red Cross of Tennessee is currently still operating the
shelter at the Brainerd Recreational Center and they are actively
distributing emergency supplies. Anyone affected is welcome to stop by for
assistance, or they can call 1-800-RED CROSS for additional support.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (August 13, 2025) – In response to recent flooding, the
City of Chattanooga's Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, is
prioritizing brush collection in the most impacted areas. This proactive
measure aims to mitigate further flooding risks by clearing debris that can
obstruct drainage systems. Crews will be working these affected areas
starting today, August 13th through Saturday, August 16th. Brush and bulk
trash collection will resume its normal on demand services Monday, August
18th.
