Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) will be donating
a repurposed Harley-Davidson motorcycle to the Cohutta Police Department
after that agency lost nearly everything in a devastating fire in December
2022.

The donation will take place at the Chattanooga Police Department on Monday,
January 27, 2025 at noon.

NEW - LUPTON DRIVE AT FIRE STATION 16

A large water main break on Lupton Drive near Fire Station 16 may require a
full closure of the road before Tennessee American Water crews can begin
repairs. A large amount of water is currently flowing over Lupton Drive so
drivers should use extreme caution or utilize Fairfax Drive as a detour.

Chattanooga Police Department Graduates 19 New Cadets, One Returns to
Chattanooga Fire Department as Fire Investigator

Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) is proud to
announce the graduation of 19 cadets from its 22-week training academy. The
dedicated group of cadets successfully completed an intensive program that
included cultural diversity, firearms proficiency, constitutional law, and
more to prepare them for their roles as Chattanooga Police Officers.

UPDATE - KING STREET AND E MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD CLOSED

The previously announced water main break at the intersection of King Street and E ML King Blvd will require an expanded closure. Tennessee American Water discovered the break in the middle of the intersection, which will require the following restrictions:

King Street will be closed between E 10th Street and E MLK Blvd

E ML King Blvd will be closed between Houston Street and Foster Street, all traffic will detour onto Houston Street, E 10th Street, and Douglas Street

A water main break at the corner of King Street and E ML King Blvd will require the following restrictions until further notice:

King Street will be closed between E 10th Street and E MLK Blvd.

The eastbound lane of E ML King Blvd will shift into the center turn lane.

Tennessee American Water crews are attempting to shut off the water and start the repair process. Repairs may require additional closures which will be shared at that time.

Chattanooga sees double digit crime rate decrease for second year in a row

Chattanooga, Tenn. (January 23, 2025) - Today Mayor Kelly and Police Chief
John Chambers announced that new annual statistics show that crime
decreased by 11% overall in Chattanooga from 2023 to 2024, building on a
12% decrease from 2022 to 2023.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Police Department is pleased to
announce the return of Elisa Myzal as the new Public Affairs Director.

After leaving the department three years ago to pursue opportunities in the
private sector and travel, Myzal has returned to take on this critical role
in enhancing the department’s communication efforts.

Utility Commission also denies Tennessee American Water Company request to
charge Chattanoogans more to benefit rural water users

Chattanooga, Tenn. (January 9, 2025) - In a victory for Chattanoogans,
today the Tennessee Public Utility Commission voted to deny Tennessee
American Water Company’s proposed 19.7% rate increase for Chattanooga water
users, instead allowing only a 1.45% increase.

Chattanooga, Tenn. (January 17, 2025) - This week, the Chattanooga City
Council voted to accept a $500,000 grant the Police Department recently
earned aimed at addressing challenges surrounding the recruitment and
retention of qualified sworn officers.
