The City of Chattanooga’s Department of Housing & Community Investment will host a public meeting at Avondale Community Center - 1305 Dodson Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37406 on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and receive comments on the City’s FY 2024-2025 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) before its submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on September 30, 2025. 

The Chattanooga Police Department is proud to announce the upcoming
graduation of the 2025 Academy Class. Please join Chief Chambers and the
department in welcoming these men and women to the team by attending the
ceremony on Thursday, September 4, 2025. The event will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00
p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall at the UTC Fine Arts Center (752 Vine
Street, Chattanooga, TN 37403).

CPD congratulates the cadets and looks forward to having them serve our

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. –  The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) has
charged a suspect in connection with the August 17, 2025, homicide in the
3200 block of Brainerd Road.

Alex Juwan Stallion, age 27, is charged with First Degree Murder and is
currently in custody at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.

and a 16-year-old in connection with an August 28, 2025 shooting in the
2800 block of Market Street.

. – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) has arrested two
suspects, a 17-year-old
male and a 21-year-old female - Janecia McKevie, in connection with the
death of a 3-year-old boy and significant abuse of a one-year-old boy.

Chattanooga Department of Public Works Unveils New Eco-Friendly Fleet,
Combines Sustainability with Community Literacy

CHATTANOOGA, TN  – The Chattanooga Department of Public Works today
announced the launch of its first fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
trucks, a significant step toward cleaner air and a more sustainable future
for the city. This initiative is a core component of the Mayor's commitment
to advancing environmental goals and improving air quality for all
residents.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.  – The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) quickly

located and arrested 64-year-old Guster Harfield in connection with the
August 8, 2025 homicide in the 7700 block of Lee Highway. While Harfield
has been charged, investigators continue working to fully develop the case
for prosecution.

Chattanooga, TN-- Garbage and Recycling collection scheduled for Labor Day,
Monday, September 1st, 2025, will be collected as normal. There will be no
changes to the collection day.  Please place containers along the curbside by
7:00 AM on collection day to ensure pickup.

The Birchwood Landfill and the Wood Recycle Center will be closed on
Monday, September 1, 2025, and will reopen on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
